Badly Broken Screen on MacBook Pro Retina A1398

Image
This MacBook Screen was hit pretty hard to the front of the screen. The LCD panel is cracked, causing the black portions of the display, visible cracks, and multicolored lines to appear on top of the image underneath. The glass covering the screen is also damaged with a deep gouge, you can see light coming through from the backlight behind it. Here's a closer look at the impact site: It looks like some sharp tool hit the front of the screen, maybe a screwdriver. Yikes! Even with the broken glass on the screen, you don't see a lot of cracked glass shards on these models, because the layers of the screen are all fused together. Our service will fix all of these issues on a MacBook Pro Retina display. When the new display is installed, there will be no sign of the accident, and the screen will look good as new. MacBook Air Screen Cracked By Itself

Image
So your MacBook Air screen cracked? This issue is not uncommon. You can find accounts of the MacBook screen cracking by itself on Apple's own forums as well as MacRumors , and others. A crack is only formed by some sort of force, but the amount of force and the type of force that causes a crack can vary a lot. On some models only a little bit of force is required if applied just right to crack the LCD panel of the Mac. The models that seem to crack the most with the least amount of force are the original MacBooks (white and black models), and the MacBook Air series. While both of these models still require some sort of trauma to crack the screen, in our experience they require less trauma to crack on average than the MacBook Pro line of laptops. Sometimes when the computer comes in we can see where the impact point was that caused the damage to the LCD, other times, it does appear the screen started to crack from a kind of twisting motion. On some model computers, including the

This cracked screen above looks pretty bad, with the horizontal and vertical colored lines and "shatter" image covering most of the screen. This type of cracking is common when the computer is closed on a small object like headphones. But we say this Mac was lucky, because the glass panel on the front of the display is totally intact. You might notice that there is a plastic case on this laptop. Yep, screens can be damaged even if the laptop has a case! For these Non-Retina models, the glass and LCD screen are separate parts. This 13 inch MacBook Pro A1278 was able to be repaired in under 24 hours for under $200. 13 Inch MacBook Air Screen Repair

Image
The damage sustained by this MacBook air caused the display to only work on exactly half of the screen. This was likely caused by the ribbon cable that allows the I/O board on the display to connect to the LCD panel itself. The new LCD panels come with this new IO board including those ribbon cables, so a new LED panel fixed the display nicely. Ribbon Cable Failures on MacBook Airs In the picture above you can see that the display of this MacBook Air did receive a hit or trauma that caused the display to fail. There are two ribbon cables at the bottom of the display that connect to an IO board which in turn connects to the logic board of the Mac. The hit seems to have damaged the left side ribbon causing the video feed to not come through at all for that side of the display. Failure without damage While the picture above is clearly damage, we have seen cases where these ribbon cables fail without any obvious damage to the display. The failure seems to occur more frequently if the
